Our Story
Twins Oak Tees didn't start as a business idea. It started with two acorns.
When my twins were little, we lost a maple tree in our front yard. They wanted to plant something new, so we gathered acorns from a neighbor's tree and put them in the ground, more out of curiosity than any real plan. Two of them grew. And somewhere along the way, they twisted around each other as they came up, growing intertwined. Kind of like the twins themselves.
Years later, when we moved, I dug that little tree up and kept it in a pot. The plan was simple: someday I'd plant it on land I could pass down to them. Something that would outlast me.
Then the 2021 Texas freeze hit. In the chaos of it all, just trying to keep the house warm and everything running, I forgot about the tree. By the time I remembered, it was too late. It didn't survive. I didn't expect that to hit me as hard as it did, but it did.
So when it came time to name this shop, "Twins" was never in question. It became Twins Oak Tees, something I could actually grow this time, and put toward something that matters: their future, their college, and giving back along the way.
In 2023, our daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. That changed how I think about everyday products, the ones that quietly give a parent peace of mind, or speak up for a kid when they can't. That's where the medical alert bracelets came from. Not a business plan. Just wanting something real for her, made well enough that other families could trust it too.
The shirts came from the other side of who I am: a little irreverent, a little soft hearted, usually both at once.
That's the whole story, really. A dad, two kids, a tree that didn't make it, and a shop trying to grow something that will.
